Here's the storyboard

I don't know how much of this is 'canon' - but I really hope the answer is all of it. I think I've seen great television pilots before, but none for an animation that got me so obsessed like this one did. Some of the differences between the pilot are really funny - Lady Ranicorn talks by cooing like a dove - while some aren't as - Lady Ranicorn belongs to Princess Bubblegum.

I love that Jake is a little more dog like, with a huge, happy "Roar!" when growing in size, and a matter-of-fact "ruff!" when putting on his booties.

I'd say none of the stuff in it is really canon (Finn has a different name even) but a bunch of ideas in it get used again later on in a different way.

Are the comic books not official? I got one where Finn and Jake go back in time to this pilot.

i don't really think the comic books are 'official'

with this stuff it's impossible to know unless they talk about it but just because of all the different incarnations of the property i only assume the show is 'canon'

cause they've got the show, the web games, the console games, apps and shit, the comics, etc

also i'm excited for this daily AT discussion i have a lot of thoughts on some of this stuff

I really don't like this thing when 'canon' is whatever the Owners say, I think that anything is canon as long as it's not contradicted by the TV show.

Actually yeah I agree with this. It's all made up shit anyway and your version of made up shit is no less or more special than whatever committees in cartoon network make decisions.

The comics are official but are not considered to be part of the canon of the show. However, the events of the show are canon in the universe of the comics, even if they're directly contradictory (e.g. with the Lich). I think the OGNs are a separate continuity yet again.
