it annoys me how you see bi erasure in some sj circles

there are plenty of internet feminists out there who kinda just parrot other internet feminists, and they lose the nuance and stuff of critically thinking feminists.

i feel like some people begin to figure out privilege and think they have a very definitive understanding of it. And then they see bisexuality as something that confuses them in terms of their very black-and-white view of privilege.

in this case, bisexual people are broken down into specific groups, based on heterosexual or homosexual relationships, and then those bad internet feminists are happy because now they've found a way to fit bisexuals into their overly simplified concept of privilege. and then that's essentially bi erasure, and it is definitely not okay.

thats wack. bisxuals dont materialize into being when entering the het relationship, they still have histories where they could have, and probably did, experience homophboia either directly or simpley by having homosexual feelinga in a heteo ormative society. hell they still might have trouble with heteronormativity since even though their relationship is het that doesn't mean thei desires are sgoing to be.

ah, okay. yeah, this is like an ongoing issue i've been having with this same person. like 90% of their ideology is about gatekeeping communities and denying people the ability to name their experiences as oppression. and that's what i'm really struggling with?? like i actually do not understand this part of their ideology. i don't understand what it's supposed to accomplish :/

if a bisexual person dating someone of their "expected" gender gets privilege from that (aka from no one realizing they're bi), then wouldn't that mean that closeted gay people are also privileged in the same way? Someone's sexuality being a secret isn't a privilege, it's just shitty.

okay, yes! this is a great point!!

i feel that maybe one of the issues i have with the person who made the original post is that anything short of overt physical violence doesn't really matter or "count" as oppression to them? which i guess i sort of understand in a shitty academic kind of way but like?? again, what is the point of specifically shitting on an already marginalized person for not "being oppressed enough."
