F.E.A.R. for $2.50 - the second best shooter ever

Wait really? Or are you joking here?

Also what's the first best?

F.E.A.R. is really fun cause the AI does so many cool things, and the levels are designed create these great, unpredictable moments. It's a balance no other military FPS has gotten so right.

I'm mostly ranking stuff just for fun but this is my list, note that this is just for single player and I'm leaving off immersive sims like Deus Ex even tho yea those are great:

  1. New DOOM (probably, we'll see how it ages)
  2. F.E.A.R.
  3. Far Cry 2
  4. First DOOM (tho obviously it's incomparable in a lot of ways, but even taking it out of context it's amazing)
  5. Half Life

Iron Brigade is 90% off. It's a combination shooty gun game and tower defense 'em up made by double fine in which you fight the menace of television from your sandbag covered, deisel powered mech.

Sid Meier's Pirates! $2.49 still kind of the best pirate gam

Valkyria Chronicles $4.99 p good kind of odd tonally i know alot of people hate it but i think its good never played the pc one tho

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record $5.99 this gam has a lot of bad things in it from a (for lack of better word) social justice stand point but it is my fav kind of goofy fun makes a good podcast game dont bother with Dead Rising 2 og unless you care about the story (you dont) off the record has more things in it pro tip get cheat engine or something to make yourself max lvl at the start trust me

NBA 2K16 $11.99 i dont care about basketball but i had fun with it the spike lee things is bad and not in a funny way but it is still fun and im probably going to play some more of it i played the ps4 one i dont know how it is on pc

Dishonored $4.99 i wanted to love this game but it just never got me like i feel like it should have still good for $5 lot of sneaks but also just killing people is super fun because of the shit you can get away with i heard the dlc is supper good but i never played

Darkest Dungeon $14.99 v fun v hard dont play it if your are the type to save scum it not how you play and prob will not work just roll with it and it will suck u in

Crypt of the NecroDancer $3.74 god this game is so fun buy it now maybe get the collectors edition it good this game is so good pls play it

I should try NecroDancer again, I got to the second world and was so overwhelmed that I needed to stop

Practice, practice, practice, practice. It took me almost 20 hours just to get through individual zones with Cadence the first time, and then once I finally got that down moved on to the next challenge and kept practicing.

What I really love most about Necrodancer is that tangible feeling of steady improvement. There's always room to get better, and a lot of different goals you can set for yourself so that each one is just in sight from the last.

  • Skullgirls for $2.99 (-70%) - You know I have to mention this one. It's a damn good fightgaem and feature-rich with detailed tutorials, a nice story mode, and that wonderful GGPO netcode.

    • 2nd Encore DLC for $10.04 (-33%) - In addition to bundling in all previous DLC with it, this gets you some nice single-player extras: fully voiced story mode, survival mode, combo trials, and a challenge mode thing. It's not all that substantial and if you don't care that much about single-player you don't really need it, but the VAs are so good and it's nice fanservice if you are into it.
    • Or buy the previous DLC individually: Characters for 5x$0.59 and the extra palettes for another $0.59 (-70%) - 2E is new so they didn't discount it as heavily, and if you have no interest in the new 1P goodies and only want the previous DLCs that would come bundled with it it'd actually be cheaper to buy those separately.
  • Crypt of the Necrodancer for $3.74 (-75%) or $8.74 for the bundle with all 5 soundtracks and making of mini-documentary - The best damn roguelike I've ever played. It's almost purely focused on player skill over RNG due to the way enemy patterns are designed such that it's always possible to avoid damage if you play perfectly - but don't be fooled, it's far harder than it looks when there's a swarm of tricky zone 4 mobs and the pressure to always keep moving to the beat. The skill curve is really wonderfully paced, beating Cadence or Bard for the first time takes plenty of practice but you will feel yourself steadily improving as you go until you finally get there. Then once you've conquered that first challenge there are many more goals to go after: bring your speedrun times down, try a high score run (actually don't score is boring), work on consistency and see how many consecutive wins you can get in Deathless Mode, play the other unlockable characters with very different playstyles, do an All Chars run to beat the first 9 characters back to back without dying, etc. There is always higher to climb - to date only 12 people in the world have beaten the secret 10th character Coda, and so far nobody has managed to pull off a low% run with her yet. Oh, and get the soundtracks, they're soooo good. You get 5 different cover albums by Danny Baranowsky, A_Rival, Familyjules7x, Virt, and Girlfriend Records.

  • Lethal League for $4.75 (-66%) - One of those minimalist games-that-gets-people-arguing-about-what-is-and-isn't-a-fighting-game. Regardless of how you want to classify it genre-wise, it's definitely a damn good game, that's for sure. Very easy for casual audiences to pick up and play, but there's so much hidden depth beneath the surface for hardcore players who want to dive into that. Yes, this game does have a serious competitive scene!

  • Towerfall Ascension for $7.49% (-50%) - If you have local friends to play it with, this is another great game that's easy to learn and hard to master. Unfortunately the developer went off on some stubborn rant on why the game will never have online, and there's not much in the way of single-player content either. So only buy this if you have some IRL friends you can rope into playing it together.

  • Freedom Planet for $7.49 (-50%) - A better Sonic game than Sega could ever make.

  • VVVVVV for $1.24 (-75%) - A killer hard but fair platformer with a killer good soundtrack.

  • Super Hexagon for $1.01 (-66%) - actually wait no don't buy it this game is spawn of satan and will shatter your mind run while you still can

i think i'm gonna sit it out this year. i have a pretty big backlog of games on ps4 which i've been using more than my macbook anyway for gaming (because that's what it's for and i live alone now so i get the tv to myself) and most of the games i want are either available on neither (stardew valley plus some older games) or both (firewatch, talos) or are pretty cheap without discount (esa, undertale)

anyway hope u enjoyed this update on my life.

TROPICO 5 is pretty cool

MGSV is dope but I'm a hxc mgs fan but also i think it's more accessible than some of the games in the series and new and you don't NEED the backstory really at all.

BULLY: SCHOLARSHIP EDITION is one that had an aesthetic i really enjoyed and was honestly kind of formative for me when i played it on ps2 just before i started 12th grade? so I bought it when it was on sale on PS4 a little while ago. it's a bizarre combination of asinine and misogynistic, trying desperately to be edgy within certain boundaries set by the fact that the characters are 15-year-olds and failing. it was still kind of a nostalgic trip but I definitely don't recommend it.

SLEEPING DOGS I just started recently but I love it! it's like batman meets GTA but in a way cooler setting and with more satisfying mechanics than the former. Hong Kong feels more populous than any video game city i've ever seen before

thank u for the update on yur good gaming life

SLEEPING DOGS is amazing and I'll make an update post with a few more games, it'll be on it.

tbh i probably would never have bought sleeping dogs if you hadn't big up'd it so hard when it was new. also i wrote that post BEFORE i realized that there was a karaoke minigame, and now i am writing this post after, and my opinion of the game has improved
