honestly thank you so much for posting this analysis, I was playing a game of magic over skype with some friends and one stranger and the stranger posted the thing mocking nonbinary people(as in, agreeing with it) and I was just gonna ignore it but having this to copy/paste into the chat gave me the courage to actually bring it up and confront the dude

even if I did log out of skype shortly after claiming I needed to go to bed haha

From my reblog of it (in case you can't read it for whatever reason):

No one’s seriously trying to identify as mayonnaise though, this is (pretty blatantly) mocking non-binary people for getting upset when people say their identities aren’t real by comparing it to something obviously ridiculous, the only reason its “mayonnaise” is to fit the old meme. I really don’t get how anyone could not see that and why so many people are acting like jennykrigg-court is seriously defending mayonnaise as a gender

I can’t believe people actually can’t tell this is meant to mock non-binary people. How gullible do you have to be to not see through it good lord

I can't be the only one who thinks this was meant to mock non-binary people? it just scream TIA garbage "satire"

You're completely right. There should be a name for this type of argument, where someone tries to discredit an idea by saying, "Well, if <idea> is true, then <something completely ridiculous> is also true!" when that completely ridiculous thing would never come up. Appeal to ridiculous case, or something.

your analysis is pretty on point. all those people mocking jennykrigg-court are so freaking willfully dense it's unbelievable.

Nah, that's totally making fun of non-binary folk. Ugh.
