omg omg I'm so excited

having the fempire backed up will be nice, but I care so much more about having a functional non-slow website to post on with my friembs :) thank you so much for putting so much work into this

I definitely like being "just post" as like a broader identity rather than the fempire, but I hope we ultimately land a url that feels more wieldly than jstpst. I love looking at all those weird modern alternatives to ".com" or ".net" or whatever

I really like jstpst.net just cause it's weird and techie and dorky and fun to type, but we might change it later.

apparently you can only use .post if you're like an Official Postal Service Thing, but alls I'm saying is that justpost.cool is available and like $5

Lack of SSL at start is no big deal as we aren't that kind of a target and it's not any worse than what we already got and it's a thing we can make later.

I think the rebranding is good, even if jstpst.net isn't the final one.

Looking forward though, I must wonder about the board policy. Back in the day a lot of small message boards suffered from being cluttered with many, many low-to-zero activity boards that were created as premature specialization. Depending on the how the UI and layout and functionality of the site is, it might be a good idea to start with admin blessed set of boards so that they will be

  1. comprehensive, if you have something to post you'll have a place for it
  2. user culture starts in a good direction
  3. There will be no still born boards or excessively specialized ones
  4. Later when board creation is opened, people already have some idea for where there is room for improvement and secondly there is probably excitement given that there is new freedom in using the site.

What would those boards be? Probably most the same as we have with some consolidations, like I don't see much point in having boards for anime, cartoons and animation like we do. One thing I'd like to see would be some sort of general board - /r/fempire seems somewhat highbrow to me and /r/just_post isn't a good fit for everything.

I'd like to figure out something like this too, unless we got a huge increase in users it just doesn't seem like we need more than a handful of boards. I just follow r/all/new here anyway, for instance.

Actually while I'm on the thought, idk much about how the new site will work but I think defaulting to "newest" would be appropriate for our size.

If you have a smallish amount of boards, then new users could also be made to subscribe to all of them by default by admins so that people won't be left out of things, but can unsubscribe if they so wish to. If the amount of boards is practically unlimited, this doesn't work, but we don't have the user base to warrant them and if we feel the need, we can open that later.

I don't know how the Raddit software does it, but I feel like this could be possible.
