I think that the context is why those posts aren't reported or downvoted -- whenever I see a post like that, I don't think that the poster is intending to expose us to upsetting content, but rather is just saying "hey, come look at this ridiculous thing that I found. Let's make fun of it/vent about the fact that it exists".

I guess some people really don't like that but I think it can be a valuable thing -- having a place to make fun of really racist, sexist, cissexist, or just plain gross stuff kind of takes the power away from those things? I think it can also remind people that these sorts of things are not okay and that their reaction(s) to such content are valid and appropriate? Lmbo I feel like I might just be stating the extremely apparent though

Either way I think as long as those posts are appropriately titled (to indicate that the poster isn't endorsing whatever content it might be) and tagged with TWs when applicable, they're okay. I do think the text post idea is really good though, and maybe that could become a dorknet-wide rule? I'd be down for it. Just so long as those discussions are able to continue on

(but it's your dorknet so obvs you mod however you feel is appropriate)

also does anyone else check their post history whenever a post like this comes up to make sure that they didn't post something shitty to prompt devtesla to speak out about it?? lmbo

your post about being happy to touch a cat was clearly too intense for the fempire

I like that if you think it might be harmful to people you take action.

obviously im terrible at self moderating b/c i think my posts have been removed like 3 times in a year or something? so when it happens I'm honestly just happy that something shitty was taken out of people's lives.

yeah keep calling us out on shitposting pls

I have no problem with this policy. I don't tend to report anything that I don't think is trolling or massively crossing a line, but I also don't like or click on stuff that is "look at this horrible thing" either. I just avoid it so this doesn't affect me one way or another I guess :0

It depends how often. But really, I agree this place isn't The Other Site and its cool to have a place to not see that kind of shit. I mean, I expect it now and then in killallgames, dontwatchanime, and waitwhat, but I understand its your sub's and you can do what you want.

when i get the sense that a post is going to be something gross i ignore it and don't report or even really comment unless it seems like an emergency. i've just conditioned myself to do this because most of the internet is so horrible that you just have to ignore a lot of it just to deal. this is bad though and makes me complicit in potentially harmful content being spread.

Speaking of conditioning, I suspect that not reporting stuff has been reinforced by The Other Site where it's wholly pointless most of the time.

Sorry dad :(

This is a good policy I'll try to be more positive in future.

yea I was kinda upset with my self after that post, in retrospect it was too negative and disgusting, I think we should either quarantine that stuff into it's own place or just stop it, i love how postive we are :D

Sometimes I just upvote everything no matter what, because the fempire is full of cool people and I figure everything they post is worth upvotes. my bad :)

(Actually I don't do that as much here as on the other place cause I don't have keyboard shortcuts here.)

I would think that kind of thing might be better in /r/waitwhat if it's posted at all.

your ability to curate content (and encourage posting) is a fairly significant part of why this website even exists in the first place, as I'm sure you know. imo you and other moderators are doing a great job.

and I firmly believe that it's better to delete too much rather than the other way around.
