The moment where it dawned on me that it was really messed up was when someone admitted that they had to stifle laughter when they heard about their cousin's miscarriage.

I honestly can't figure out what was so funny about it in the first place anymore, and it's really disturbing to me how it spread into places that you'd never expect to see a joke were the punchline is something like that :(

it was because cad was/is supper bad but like no one talks about cad anymore but lost.jpg is still a meme so it looks super bad without context and it was not super good with context to begin with a lot of the cad mock thread was not vary good but i think we all were ok with it because buckley was a huge ass

I think the joke was this serious topic being handled with really bland art and framing.

When it was first posted on CAD people assumed it was a joke because it kinda came out of nowhere and followed the same panel design as the comedy comics.

Thank you. I honestly don't get why people who should know better pass this meme around giggling like 14 year old redditors. I keep seeing people trying to do mental gymnastics to excuse it, but like... why? You wanna talk about how CAD was a bad comic, find a way of saying it without making miscarriage jokes FFS.

I just looked up this meme/comic idk it's been so long since I've read CAD or penny arcade or w/e that I don't really understand the context but it honestly seemed like a not entirely ham-handed way to portray a miscarriage? ? Like if the joke is that the comic was overdramatic (prob the only reading I would reluctantly accept as possibly funny), how would someone portray this in a webcomic without being overdramatic???

Or is this one of those "Zyklon Ben" things where a bunch of shitty 4channers picked on the creators of CAD to thinly veil the fact that they actually agree with all (or most of) the goofy bullshit the creator spews?

It's more that a joke-a-day comic springing Dramatic Miscarriage done up with the same panel design and such as the joke a day comic out of nowhere made some people misinterpret the intended emotional result, and then the fact it could be misinterpreted that badly became the joke.

Doesn't help that the rest of the comic doesn't handle this new melodrama story well (Author Stand-in breaks up with her over this and the 'heartwarming' conclusion is him finally 'forgiving' her for something that wasn't her fault in any way)

Oh did I mention this entire story-line was based on the creator's girlfriend having a miscarriage and he responded to it by breaking up with her, too?

Okay that helps provide more context. Tho tbh I think I was happier when I still had forgotten about CAD
