Yeah, I noticed this the other day with that Dawkins article. The Guardian tends to have some decent articles, but their commenters are pretty shitty.

I really wish people would stop with the whole "outside agitator" nonsense, as if the residents of Ferguson are incapable of forceful resistance themselves, or as if people not from the city could not possibly have the interests of others in mind, or as if the cops wouldn't do whatever they want in any case

Like, criticize internally all you want, but injecting shit like this into the public discourse only serves to isolate those who are more radical and confrontational, making it easier for the cops to divide and conquer. It turns any nascent movement against itself. And it's basically saying "it's more important to us that you're under our control than it is to struggle against the system that produced this shit in the first place."
