i want visual novel(s) to play while i'm recovering from surgery by hoppetin killallgames

I recommended some puzzle-y interactive fiction to Holly elsewhere, but figured I'd put them here too in case anyone else is interested.
Counterfeit Monkey has been described as "Portal for English". It has an amazing gimmick where you have a device that lets you remove letters from the names of object to turn them into other objects, and even has some really interesting worldbuilding around the fact that this is a thing that is possible.
Rematch is a single command long; the puzzle is figuring out the right command after a lot of trial and error and seeing what happens when you do different things.
In Spider and Web, you're a spy infiltrating an enemy's facility, with a bunch of gadgets that you have to combine in clever ways. It has a cool storytelling structure where the gameplay takes place in a series of flashbacks, as you've been captured and are being interrogated to discover just how you got as far as you did.
Violet takes place in a single room, and your goal is to avoid distractions so that you can get work done.
The Gostak distims the doshes.

Unsure if this is the place to be asking, but I don't actually understand what having a minimum wage (like, at all) is meant to do.
why do people call it boku no hero academia in english even though the title card says "my hero academia" like even on the manga? by hoppetin dontwatchanime
[–]metagameface 2 points3 points4 points 2 months ago
Not familiar with the show myself, but "my hero academia" sounds weird and unnatural in English despite being (I assume) a direct translation of something that sounds natural in Japanese.
So it might just be a matter of not wanting to call the show something that sounds weird and unnatural?

I've heard good things about masterpassword for people who want to be especially security conscious. It's an app you run locally that generates passwords for you, from your hidden key and the domain name of the site the password is for.

Does anybody know any good libraries or tools for converting cities to states, to countries? by 1vsin just_post
[–]metagameface 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago
I found this JSON file that's just a giant key-value map from the name of country to an array of names of cities within that country.
I imagine there's a similar file somewhere for states/provinces within a country. You could probably hack something useable together using those.
I don't think it's possible in general to unambiguously get a country from a city, though, since there's a lot of cities that share a name with a city in another country.
Let's Play Archive - Avalon Code, by Didja Redo by metagamefacein killallgames

A narrative-based Let's Play that's one of the best things I've ever read. It's of a mediocre game, but it's written by someone who loved the idea behind the game so much that they took it upon themselves to write the story it deserved to have.
It's beautiful and sad and hopeful and is something I reread every year or so.
