has anyone read the stuff critical of quantum computers, that basically there is too much decoherence or something like that built up for them to reach very many qubits and so theyll always be impractical? i have no idea if thats true or not, the only 'quantum' i know is 'quantum of solace' LOL but seriously folks its something that will be interesting to follow in years to come

oo thats fascinating about Puttin on the Dog, I know in Soviet Russia composers couldn't do much dissonant (including serial) stuff but they were allowed to for thrilling moments in movies and so that allowed the avant-garde to develop a bit. John Maus' Less Talk More Action is a serial pop song (although now that I listen again, the lyrics to this are maybe problematic)

O.O

I’ve been working on a piece for years that takes all of the pitches from Nicolas Slonimsky’s Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns and maps them onto the rhythms and tempos of the Charlie Parker Omnibook, a book of transcriptions of fifty of Parker’s solos. The piece is going to last hours and will basically sound like someone completely strung out running scales.
